Suppose you started paying it off the day Moses came down from Sinai. Not a dollar of interest, just the principal, split evenly across every day since.

You'd owe $31.6 million a day. Every day. For 3,471 years.

$1.3 million an hour. $366 every second!

Trump promised every adult citizen a $5,000 check if Republicans hold Congress. He's calling it the Trump dividend.

How much will that cost? Let's do some math.

About 258 million adults times $5,000 is roughly $1.3 trillion.

That's nearly as much as the entire federal discretionary budget. Everything Congress actually votes on in a year — defense, roads, schools, all of it — is $1.6 trillion.

There's no $1.3 trillion sitting anywhere. It would be borrowed, the same week the debt crossed $40 trillion.

When money gets created and handed out, the number in your account goes up and the value of every dollar already in it goes down. You get $5,000. Everyone's savings buy a little less.

This is the fourth cash proposal in nineteen months. The DOGE dividend never came. The tariff rebates never came. But the pattern is the point: the answer to every problem is more dollars.
