Meet the person behind the framework we've been talking about all week.
John Pavelka, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®, BFA, CEPA®, is the Managing Partner of The Cities Private Wealth Group. If you've heard us talk about buckets this week, John helped shape the way our team thinks about them today.
After 28 years in this business, what has stayed with him most isn't the market charts or investment performance. It's the people.
He's seen countless individuals do everything "right." They save diligently, make thoughtful decisions, and build significant wealth, and still lie awake at night wondering if it's enough.
Often, the problem isn't that the money isn't there.
It's that no one has helped them answer a more important question:
What is all of this money actually for?
Bucket-style planning has been around for a long time. What John helped shape for our team was where the process starts: with your values, before a single dollar gets assigned anywhere.
Because once you understand what matters most to you and what you want your money to accomplish, every dollar can finally have a purpose.
We asked John about it:
"I've always believed the goal isn't just to accumulate money, because money without purpose is just a number, and numbers alone rarely create fulfillment. The real question is: what do you want your money to do for your life? Once we understand what's most important to you, we can give every dollar a purpose. That's when financial planning becomes more than managing accounts. It creates clarity, confidence, and the freedom to live more intentionally."
