It's the advice everyone gives employees. It's also a little bit of a lazy answer.

Telling someone to "shop around" for care while they're sick, scared, or staring at a bill they can't decode isn't a strategy - it's a shrug.

The real work is harder: building plans where the smart choice is also the obvious one. Where telemedicine, generics, in-network pharmacies, and preventive care aren't hidden behind jargon - they're the path of least resistance.

CMS finalized new Medicare Part D creditable coverage guidelines on April 2nd with two key changes taking effect in 2027.

HRAs and ICHRAs are now exempt from annual creditable coverage notice requirements. And the threshold to determine creditable coverage is increasing to 73%, with further increases through 2030.

A growing number of employers are finding out they missed their carrier's internal RxDC deadline and now need to file portions of their Prescription Drug Data Collection report directly with CMS.

The final deadline is June 1st. And getting access to the HIOS portal alone can take two or more weeks.
