If you have turned on the TV or checked your mail today, you have probably been hit with a lot of noise. 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 is the 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 for the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period and the General Enrollment Period; the "last call" messages are everywhere. 📢 🛑

I want to offer something different today: A deep breath.

If you are at peace with your current plan and your pharmacy costs are exactly where you need them to be, I am genuinely happy for you! That is the goal.

Tomorrow is the final day of the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment window, and I can tell you exactly what the national call centers are going to look like.

Phones will be ringing off the hook. Hold times will stretch to 45 minutes or longer. And when you finally do get through, you will likely be talking to a stranger in a cubicle hundreds of miles away from North Carolina who is reading from a script.

I believe there is a better way.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁" 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Sundays here in North Carolina are my favorite time to slow down and reflect.

Usually, you can find me walking around the greenway. It is a time for me to reset and think about what really matters.

I was reflecting this morning on how grateful I am to live and work in a place like this. Being an independent agent means I don't work for a big corporate office in another state. I work for you. I see you at the local grocery store, and that is a responsibility I don't take lightly.

It makes me so incredibly thankful that you trust me to help protect your families and your futures.

I believe that being a Family-First / Service-Driven advocate is about more than just paperwork. It is about showing up for your neighbors when they need a hand or just a bit of clarity. 🤝

It's Saturday morning here in North Carolina, and I wanted to share a quick story that reminded me why I am so passionate about being a trust worthy advocate. 🛡

Earlier this month, I sat down with a neighbor who was feeling completely overwhelmed by their 2026 drug costs. They were looking at a monthly bill that was eating into their travel budget and making them incredibly anxious.

We spent about 15 minutes going through a "Kitchen Table Audit" together. By identifying a few "Network Traps" and switching to a plan that actually covered their specific medications at a lower tier, we were able to save them over $200 a month.

One of the biggest frustrations I hear about in Gaston county and surrounding areas is when a neighbor goes to make an appointment, only to find out their favorite doctor is no longer in their plan’s network. 🛑

It feels like the rules of the game were changed while you were already playing. This is what we call a "Narrow Network." Plans can and do change their provider lists, and sometimes those changes happen in the middle of the year.

It makes me frustrated for my clients because you shouldn't have to choose between a plan you can afford and the doctor who knows your history. Your health is personal. Your relationship with your physician at Center Well is something you have built over years. 🛡

If your doctor has left your network, or if you are worried they might, you have exactly 4 days left to take action. This is your chance to "follow" your doctor to a plan they actually accept before the March 31st deadline locks everything in.

The countdown is officially in the home stretch. We have exactly 5 days left until the March 31st deadline hits here in North Carolina. ⏳

If you have been "meaning to check" your Medicare Advantage plan or your Part D coverage, this is your last call. Once Tuesday night rolls around, the window for 2026 generally slams shut. If you realized in January that your plan changed your favorite doctor or hiked up your medication costs, you have until the end of the month to fix it.

It is the oldest trick in the book. 🪄

You see a big, shiny advertisement for a plan with a "$0 Monthly Premium," and it sounds like a dream come true.

But here in North Carolina, I am seeing the "fine print" catch up with people at the pharmacy counter.

A plan with no monthly premium has to make its money somewhere. Often, they do that by charging higher copays for your medications or having a massive deductible you have to hit first. If you are saving $40 a month on your premium but paying an extra $200 a month for your prescriptions, you aren't actually saving money. You are just moving the debt around.

I like to look at the "Total Cost of Ownership." Just like when you are buying a used vehicle at the local lot, you have to look at the maintenance costs, not just the sticker price.

It makes me so frustrated for my clients because you deserve a plan that actually leaves money in your pocket for things you love. Your retirement is for pampering yourself, not for funding an insurance company's profit margins.

There is a massive misconception floating around Gaston and surrounding areas right now about the March 31st deadline. 🛑

A lot of people think they can "test drive" a few different Medicare Advantage plans during this window. But here is the unfiltered truth: During this Open Enrollment Period, you generally only get ONE swap.

Once you submit that application to change your plan, the door locks behind you. If you pick the wrong one again, or if you realize too late that your favorite doctor at Caromont isn't in that new network, you are likely stuck with that choice until January 2027. 📉
