Little Thompson Water District Little Thompson Water District provides clean, reliable water to customers in northern Colorado. Vrain Rivers on the east, and the foothills on the west.

LTWD is a quasi-municipal corporation and a political subdivision of the State of Colorado formed by decree in 1961. LTWD was created in 1961 for the purpose of providing water facilities and services for the residents within LTWD’s boundaries. In 1962, LTWD began serving domestic water to a 250-square-mile area in Larimer, Weld and Boulder counties. The service area generally is bounded by the Ci

ty of Loveland on the north, Longs Peak Water District on the south, the City of Greeley, the South Platte and St. It expanded to include the former Arkins Water Association in 2000 and the Town of Mead in 2002, as well as the Barefoot Lakes Subdivision in Firestone. This one-hour window gives our staff dedicated time to focus on work without interruptions so we can continue providing the service and support our customers count on.

During this time:

If you’ve already exceeded your annual water allotment, you may be wondering: What happens when irrigation season winds down?

Your annual allotment applies to your water use throughout the entire year. So even when you reduce or stop outdoor watering, your water use continues to count toward your annual total.

If you’ve already exceeded your allotment, that means the surcharge associated with exceeding your allotment will continue through the end of the year, even as your water use decreases in the fall and winter.

That’s why knowing where you stand now matters.

Use your LTWD water bill and EyeOnWater to keep track of your usage and understand your current allotment status.

The goal isn't just to use less water in one season. It’s to understand your water use throughout the entire year.

Planning a fall landscaping project? It could be a contest entry. 🌱Landscapes planted after September 15 can qualify for the 2026 contest.

Your project must be at least 200 square feet, prominently feature water-wise plants and use a water-efficient irrigation system or hand-watering.

You can submit up to two different projects per household.

And there’s a reason to show off your hard work:
• 1st place: $250 bill credit + winner garden sign
• 2nd place: $125 bill credit + winner garden sign
• 3rd place: $75 bill credit + winner garden sign

Entries are due October 15.

Reliable water service starts with thoughtful planning and continued investment in the infrastructure you don’t always see.

LTWD’s Phils Vault to Hwy. 60 Line Upsize project is one example of how we are proactively maintaining and improving our water system.

The existing pipeline, located from Phils Vault at Weld County Road 46 north to Highway 60, was installed in the early 1960s. Due to the age and size of the current line, LTWD is replacing and upsizing this section with newer infrastructure designed to better support the system.

This project will help:
✔️ Replace aging infrastructure
✔️ Increase system capacity
✔️ Improve long-term reliability for customers

While many water projects happen underground and out of sight, these investments play an important role in ensuring our system can continue serving customers now and into the future.

UPDATE (Monday, August 31 at 12:55 p.m.): The repairs have been completed, and water has been restored. If you experience air in your lines, please run water from several taps for a few minutes to clear the air. If you're still experiencing issues, please call (970)532-2096.

If you did not get an email or phone notification about the outage, we may not have your updated contact information. Please call our office at the number above to ensure we have your current information on file.

When there is a water outage, staff isn't always available to provide phone and email updates if it's after hours, but customers can always get an update outside of our normal office hours by calling (970)532-2096. Our emergency line is the same number as our main line.

WATER SERVICE UPDATE

Crews have experienced some difficulties while repairing the water main leak and will continue working through the night until water service is fully restored.

Customers along County Road 4, Boedecker Reservoir up to Highway 34, may experience no water or low water pressure while repairs are underway.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work as quickly and safely as possible to complete the repair and restore normal water service. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while repairs are complete

Planning for 2027 is already underway.

Earlier this month, LTWD reviewed the latest rate study information with the Board of Directors. The next step is discussion and evaluation as the Board considers options for the coming year.

This process helps LTWD plan responsibly for:

✔️ Reliable water service
✔️ Infrastructure improvements
✔️ Long-term financial sustainability

Additional rate study updates will continue this fall, with 2027 rates anticipated to be finalized in December before taking effect January 1, 2027.
