Our final Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week for the 23-24 school year is Alex Castillo!

Alex is a sophomore and came in after an injury to a starter and played great defense for the Bobcat soccer team. His hustle and determination was unmatched and he is going to do great things the next two years for the Bobcats!!!

We are doubling up on our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week with Kinly Smith and Kai Killingsworth receiving the award for their performances on the Lady Bobcat track team! Thanks to Coach Kristin Whetham for the write-up of these two awesome athletes!

Kinly Smith is a freshman thrower on the Sr. High track team:

Kinly has had an outstanding freshman year winning multiple 1st place medals in shot put and discus this year at our Jr High track meets.

Kinly attended the Sr High district track meet this year and threw 30’10.25” in shot put securing her a spot at the state track meet

At the state track meet Kinly set a personal record throwing 31’6.5” in shot put placing 8th place.

Kai Killingsworth is a freshman distance runner on the Sr. High track team:

Kai has had an outstanding freshman year. She has placed 1st place in multiple different events this year at our Jr. High track meets. Kai runs in the 4X800 meter relay, 1600 meter run and the 800 meter run.

Kai attended the Sr. High district meet and helped her team qualify for state in the 4X800 meter relay running a time of 11:26.88. She also ran the 3200 meter relay for the first time this year and qualified for state with a time of 13:10.02.

Kai set a personal record in the 3200 meter run at the state meet with a time of 12:59.06 and placed 7th. She also ran in the 4X800 meter relay and finished with a time of 10:52.09.

Well done to both of these ladies and the Lady Bobcat track team!

Oliver Bemis is our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week!

Oliver is a Junior on the Bobcat track team and he helped the Bobcats qualify for the state meet in the 4x800 at the district meet in Pea Ridge last week. Oliver also competed in the 110 meter hurdles placing 7th, and in the 4x400 helping his team get 6th. Well done to Oliver and the Bobcats!!!

Sophomore Kaylyn Smith is our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week! Kaylyn is a Sophomore sprinter and jumper on the Sr. High track team and has an outstanding year, placing in every event she has been in this season.

Kaylyn has set a personal record this year in the 200 meter sprint with a time of 28.84 seconds.

Kaylyn also participates in:
High Jump
Triple Jump
100 meter sprint
400 meter sprint
4X400 meter sprint

Lady Bobcat sprinter, Chaney Fairweather, is our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week! Chaney is a Sophomore and has worked extremely hard this year and has set some personal records for herself.

Thusfar this season, Chaney has PR’ed in:
Triple jump-29’4”
Long jump- 14’8.5”
High jump- 4’6”
400 meter sprint- 1:08.29

She has also ran the 200 meter sprint and is part of the 4X100 meter relay and our 4X400 meter relay.

Ashton Blok is baaaaack as our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week!!! Ashton traded in his sneakers for cleats over the course of a week and has already made an impact on the Bobcat baseball team. Ashton went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a sac-fly finishing the day with 4 RBIs while striking out 7 in only 3 innings on the mound.

Our Derek Bell, State Farm Athlete of the Week is Bobcat wrestler, Zydon Ballard.

Zydon had a great season and polished it off at the State Tournament by bringing home the Victory with Honor Award. This is a season-long award that is voted on by the officials throughout the year.

All the Bobcat wrestlers won at least one match and completed a great season under Coach Whetham.

Great work Zydon and the rest of the Bobcats!

We are closing out the Bobcat and Lady Bobcat basketball seasons with a couple Derek Bell, State Farm Athletes of the Week that have had great seasons.

First is Lady Bobcat Kaylyn Smith. The sophomore is back for her 2nd award this season after averaging 14 points and 5 rebounds in the last 3 games of the season. She has such a bright future and we are all excited to see what next season holds for Kaylyn and the rest of the returning Lady Bobcats.

Next up is senior Bobcat, Ashton Blok. Ashton was instrumental in the Bobcats victory over the 3rd place Gravette Lions during the last week of the regular season. Ashton hit two huge threes in the second quarter to propel the Bobcats into the lead which they held onto to finish off the upset! Great job Ashton!
