I have been getting alerts about scammers and how they impersonate financial institutions to trick people. I wanted to share some examples of what scammers might say and how to tell it's not real.

"We've detected suspicious activity on your account. Please verify your username and password so we can take action."

"We sent you a verification code. Can you read it back to us so we can secure your account?"

"We need remote access to your computer to stop the fraud before it spreads."

"Your account has been compromised. We need you to move your money to a "safe" account immediately.

Whenever someone contacts you for money or information, it's ok to pause. Financial institutions will never ask for your username, password, a verification code or remote access to your account. They will also never ask you to transfer funds to protect them.

HANG UP AND CALL THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION THEY ARE CLAIMING TO BE DIRECTLY TO CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS.
