Are you making a dessert for an upcoming Memorial Day picnic? Try this Berry Almond Crisp as a perfect summery treat!

Ingredients:
• 1 pound strawberries
• 14 ounces red currants
• 1½ pounds raspberries
• Generous 1 cup superfine sugar, divided
• 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• sticks salted butter, diced and softened, plus more for greasing

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease two 9½-inch round porcelain baking dishes with melted butter. Wash and dry all the fruit, and then hull the strawberries and pull the red currants off their stalks.
2. Put the berries and currants in a large bowl, sprinkle with a scant ½ cup of the sugar, and stir to combine. Divide the fruit between the baking dishes, spreading it in a single layer.
3. In a separate large bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, remaining sugar, diced butter, and ground almonds. Rub the ingredients lightly together with your fingertips until coarse crumbs form.
4. Scatter a layer of the crumb mixture over the fruit in the baking dishes and bake for 40 minutes, until the topping is golden and crisp. Serve warm.

Smaller cities in Northwest Arkansas continue to outpace the region’s big four, Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville, in population growth, according to a recent report from KNWA.

From Apr 2020 to Jul 2025, Centerton has led the region in growth, expanding by 48.93%. It’s followed by Lowell at 22.5% and Siloam Springs at 21.5%.

While they didn’t appear in the primary graphic, several smaller towns have seen even sharper increases. Since 2020, Tontitown has grown by 86%, followed by Highfill at 77%. Communities like Farmington, Pea Ridge, Gentry, Prairie Grove, and Elm Springs have also posted notable gains over the last six years.

Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, a Parisian-inspired café, will celebrate the grand opening of its first Arkansas location at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers on Friday, May 29, from 10a-2p.

The spot features crêpes, croffles, pressed paninis, salads, handcrafted lattes made with freshly ground Italian coffee beans, and more.

A full team of NWA individuals is behind the opening of the location. Sweet Paris is open Sunday-Thursday from 8a-9p and Friday-Saturday from 8a-10p.

PJ’s Coffee, a New Orleans-based coffee shop, will open in Rogers on Monday, Jun 1, from 6a-7p.

PJ’s will offer a wide variety of hot, iced, and frozen drinks, including the famous Cold Brew Iced Coffee created by founder Phyllis Jordan in 1978. Fans also enjoy Velvet Ices, Caramel Crèmes, Granitas, and more, alongside breakfast and lunch options like beignets.

The new location is in The Summit, a new development that hosts a lineup of shops and restaurants, including Whole Foods.
