S.C.D. Rea & Sons Insurance "Since 1911" Full Lines Independent Insurance Agency Founded in 1911 as Rea Brothers Insurance and Real Estate, S.C.D. Following a decade of prosperity, S.C.D. Rea & Sons.

Rea and his brother Hosea located their office ont he Southwest side of the Benton IL Public Square. Rea relocated to the second floor, of the newly constructed First National Bank (D.L. Wood) Building on the Northeast corner of the square with Hosea Rea moving to California to pursue a career in land development. Upon the ending of WWII in 1946, S.C.D. Rea was joined by his sons S. Jerome Rea and

Camden Duppe Rea forming the partnership of S.C.D. S.C.D. Rea died in 1957 at the age of 72. In 1975, following graduation from Eastern Illinois University, Robert S. Rea joined the agency purchasing the interest of his father S. Jerome Rea. In 1980, following graduation from The University of Illinois and pursuing a career in banking, John D. Aiken, son-in-law of Jerome Rea, purchased the interest of Camden Duppe Rea. The first endeavor of this new partnership was the construcion of the new office facility located 423 North Main Street Benton IL in 1982.

We had the privilege of thanking the Rend Lake Conservancy District for being a member with IParks for 25 years. The Rend Lake Conservancy District goes beyond operating as a water district. The RLCD has brought in thousands of tourists every year with their pristine golf course, restaurant, lodge, and event center.

One of the perks of being an insurance broker is working with wonderful people in our community. We want to thank Trevor McKinney (superintendent) and the park board for being a 20 year member with IParks. One thing that everyone in Benton can agree on is that we have the most beautiful park in southern Illinois. 🌳

We want get the word out and invite everyone to two events on August 1st to honor the memory of Bob Rea. The Rea family along with myself, Hilary, is honored that members of our community and dear friends of my dad are putting this together.

Saturday August 1st 2026

Ceremony outside of the Historic Jail Museum 209 W Main St. Benton, IL
Live music, keynote speakers, and dedication ceremony. The Jail Museum will be open for visitors before and after the ceremony.
This event has been organized by the City of Benton among many others in the community.

-Noon to 5 or 6pm (depending on race)
Bob Rea Memorial RC Race at 11368 Skyline Drive, Benton, IL (Near 618 Fix My RV)
Food trucks, Racing, and Charlie Birger Trophies that will be handed out sometime between 5-6pm. 🏆 See flyer for more details!
