S.C.D. Rea & Sons Insurance "Since 1911" Full Lines Independent Insurance Agency Founded in 1911 as Rea Brothers Insurance and Real Estate, S.C.D. Following a decade of prosperity, S.C.D. Rea & Sons.

Rea and his brother Hosea located their office ont he Southwest side of the Benton IL Public Square. Rea relocated to the second floor, of the newly constructed First National Bank (D.L. Wood) Building on the Northeast corner of the square with Hosea Rea moving to California to pursue a career in land development. Upon the ending of WWII in 1946, S.C.D. Rea was joined by his sons S. Jerome Rea and

Camden Duppe Rea forming the partnership of S.C.D. S.C.D. Rea died in 1957 at the age of 72. In 1975, following graduation from Eastern Illinois University, Robert S. Rea joined the agency purchasing the interest of his father S. Jerome Rea. In 1980, following graduation from The University of Illinois and pursuing a career in banking, John D. Aiken, son-in-law of Jerome Rea, purchased the interest of Camden Duppe Rea. The first endeavor of this new partnership was the construcion of the new office facility located 423 North Main Street Benton IL in 1982.

The SCD Rea & Sons family has suffered a great loss with the sudden passing of Bob Rea. He was the third generation of Rea’s who carried the torch from 1976-2026, providing 50 years of devoted service to helping generations of customers. Our office will be closed this Friday to celebrate the life and legacy of our dear father, partner, and friend. Bob’s daughter, Hilary Rea Remm, is proud to carry the legacy on as the fourth generation of Rea’s serving our community.
