If you need health coverage but missed Open Enrollment, you’re gonna love this.

You may still be able to change plans or enroll in a new plan if you have a qualifying life event (QLE). QLEs are big, life-changing events like:

✅ Getting married or divorced

✅ Adding a child to your family

✅ Losing or leaving a job

✅ Retiring early

✅ Turning 26 and losing your parent’s health coverage

✅ Moving to a new area

But here’s the most important thing to keep in mind – in most cases, you only have 60 days from the date of your QLE to enroll. So don't wait.

Looking for a health plan in 2026?
Priority Health can help. Scroll for several quick tips to help find the right plan for you.

Tip 1 - Consider your needs.
Take a look at your current health status:
Do you have a chronic condition?
Do you take any medications?
Do you see specialists every year?
Make note of what benefits you want in 2026.

Tip 2 - Big changes can have a big impact on what you need from a health plan.
Keep the following in mind as you weigh your options:
Are you changing jobs?
Moving?
Going back to school?
Adding to your family?

Tip 3 - Learn all about your health plan options to answer the following:
What's an HMO? A PPO?
Could a narrow network plan save you money?
Do you need a travel plan?
Is a plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA) right for you?

Tip 4 - Breakdown the costs.
Most plans have payments outside of your monthly premium such as:
- Deductibles
- Co-pays for doctor visits and prescriptions
See if the plan you're considering includes any $0 benefits to help you get the best value.

Tip 5 - Check for savings.
Health care subsidies change each year, but income limits are higher than you might think. In 2026, a family of four with an income of up to $128,600 may qualify and an individual with an income of up to $62,600 may qualify.

Tip 6 - Don't miss the deadline.
Open Enrollment runs Nov. 1, 2025 - Jan. 15, 2026.
Dec. 15, 2025, is the deadline for coverage that starts Jan.1, 2026.
Jan. 15, 2006, is the deadline for coverage that starts Feb. 1, 2026. This is the FINAL deadline for 2026 coverage.

Tip 7 - Get your questions answered ahead of time.
We've got tons of free resources in our Learning Center to help.
