▪️Original Medicare works with any doctor who accepts Medicare; Medicare Advantage uses networks to coordinate your care.

▪️Original Medicare has no out-of-pocket maximum; Medicare Advantage offers predictable copays and yearly cost protection.

If you need health coverage but missed Open Enrollment, you’re gonna love this.

You may still be able to change plans or enroll in a new plan if you have a qualifying life event (QLE). QLEs are big, life-changing events like:

✅ Getting married or divorced

✅ Adding a child to your family

✅ Losing or leaving a job

✅ Retiring early

✅ Turning 26 and losing your parent’s health coverage

✅ Moving to a new area

But here’s the most important thing to keep in mind – in most cases, you only have 60 days from the date of your QLE to enroll. So don't wait.

What is Open Enrollment? It's the annual window when you can:

✔️ Sign up for a new health plan.
✔️ Renew your current coverage.
✔️ Make changes to your benefits.

This applies to ACA plans, great for individuals and families who buy coverage on their own.

📅 Key dates to know:

✔️ Nov. 1 - Open Enrollment period begins.
✔️ Dec. 15 - Deadline for coverage starting Jan. 1.
✔️ Jan. 15 - Final deadline in Michigan for 2026 coverage.

When will your new coverage kick in? It depends on when you enroll:

✔️ Enroll by Dec. 15 - Coverage starts Jan. 1.
✔️ Enroll by Dec. 16 through Jan. 15 - Coverage starts Feb. 1.
