Farmers markets, festivals, concerts, and weekend events are part of what makes summer in Central Oregon so special. While you’re enjoying local produce, music, makers, and community fun, it’s also a good time to keep fraud prevention in mind.

Busy crowds and quick payments can create opportunities for card skimming, stolen wallets, unsafe digital payments, and fake QR codes. A little awareness can help protect your money while you support local vendors.

Before you pay, remember to:
• Use contactless or chip-enabled payments when possible
• Keep wallets, phones, and cards zipped and close
• Avoid banking or shopping over public Wi-Fi
• Turn on transaction alerts to catch unfamiliar charges quickly

Pause before you scan, tap, or send. Learn more in our latest Fraud Prevention Friday blog post: https://blog.midoregon.com/festival-fraud-prevention-tips/

🐶🐱 June is National Safety Month—and a great reminder to include your pets in your emergency plans.

Here at Mid Oregon we love our pets and in Central Oregon, we know how quickly situations like wildfire season or severe weather can change. Taking a few simple steps now can help keep your pets safe, secure, and by your side.

Start by building a pet emergency kit:
• Food & water (3–7 day supply)
• Medications & vet records (waterproof storage)
• Leash, carrier, or harness
• ID tags & microchip info
• Comfort items like a toy or blanket
• Sanitation supplies

Planning ahead—like keeping carriers accessible and familiar—can also make evacuations smoother for everyone.

💛 We’re here for our members and our community. Let’s make sure no family member gets left behind.

Wildfire season brings out the best in our community — neighbors helping neighbors, donations, and support when it matters most. Unfortunately, it can also bring scammers looking to take advantage of urgency and generosity.

Before you donate, hire cleanup help, or respond to a message about relief, take a moment to verify who you’re dealing with. A few extra seconds can help protect your money and your personal information.

Watch for red flags like:
• Requests for immediate payment
• Pressure to act fast
• Demands for wire transfers, gift cards, or cash apps
• Unverified contractors offering quick repairs

Scams don’t happen because you’re careless—they happen because scammers are professional manipulators. If something feels off, trust that instinct and act fast.

🚨 If you’ve been scammed, the first 24 hours matter. Here’s your quick checklist:
