WBL 2017 SPRING SEASON PREVIEW!!!!!!!
With the 2017 Spring Season still in its infancy, there are a few notable milestones that are on the horizon. Ryan “I work at a Bank” Zubke, the founder of the league, and most experienced player, is currently at 911 career hits and only 89 short of 1000. Because of his plethora of seasons Zubke as played, he is 404 hits ahead of the second plays player, which is Gavin Reed at 533.
However, there are a few of Zubke’s career statistical records that are endangered of being surpassed, even though he has nearly over 500 at bats more than the next player. The young power hitter Tommy Vohnoutka, at 220 Homeruns, is only 29 behind Zubke. Vohnoutka career homerun to at bat ratio is at 3.82. Zubke currently Homers every 7.65 at bats. So this could happen this season, however Vohnoutka was limited to only 24 homeruns last season because of other school and financial obligations that limited his playing time. It will be interesting to watch wall will happen in the homerun chase this season.
A second of Zubke’s career records that is endangered is in triple category. Gavin “Grandpa” Reed at 38 triples, is only 3 behind Zubke for the record. Last season Grandpa set a record for most triples in a single season (21). Other than divine intervention, the record is guaranteed to fall and soon.
There are a few other Stastisticle milestones that are worth mentioning. Chris Shepard Adam Becker, Jacob “Jac-O-Bee” Israel, and Adam “I like music” Hendrick, will most likely reach the 50 homerun Club. Ryan “Old Hag” Hagerty is only 1 double shy of becoming only the 5th player the hit 50 doubles. These are not all of the milestones that can be reached or broken this season, but some of the more notable marks. All in all, it will be a great season to watch unfold.
