You have your eye on a new home? Make sure scammers don’t get their hands on your down payment!

Alway verify wiring instructions by calling a trusted phone number you already have on file. Never rely on contact information in a last-minute email and be suspicious of unexpected changes to payment instructions. Cybercriminals have been know to impersonate real estate agents, title companies, or lenders, sending fake emails with fraudulent wiring instructions just when you’re getting ready to close.

‼️ Fraud Alert: Scammers Are Impersonating Government Agencies!

The Minnesota Department of Commerce is warning consumers about scammers using official names and logos to demand money. These fraudsters may claim you need to pay a fee to receive funds or recover money you've lost.

🔎 Remember these red flags:
• Never pay an upfront fee to receive money or recover lost funds.
• Verify requests using contact information from the agency’s official website.
• Never share personal or financial information through unverified links or messages.

💡 Stay one step ahead: Scammers can make letters, calls, and websites look convincing. When in doubt, pause and verify before you pay or share information.

Suspect a scam? Report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov or IC3.gov.

It was a great event, raising $359 for the United Way!

Melissa Vacek was the top choice of the day with her award winning dish “Headless Horseman’s Harvest Crisp.” 🥇
