💡Medigap (Medicare Supplement) Plans:
These help cover costs Original Medicare (Parts A and 😎 doesn't. Premiums vary, generally $50 to $200 monthly and vary greatly when you’re 65 and offer peace of mind through covering “gaps.

Medicare FAQ Series: Featuring Parts A & B

What's the difference between the two and do I need both?

When it comes to coverage, Part A covers hospital expenses while Part B covers outpatient services. Together the two are known as “Original Medicare”

When it comes to costs, Part A is typically a $0 monthly premium, as long as people have worked their “40 quarters” however Part B does require a monthly base premium.

If your employer has less than 20 employees you’ll [most likely] need both where as employees who have employers with over 20 aren’t so cut and dry.

Getting Part B may be “optional” and you’ll want to make sure you communicate your choice through your SSA account and have someone check that your coverage is considered credible.

To make sure clients and employees are planning correctly for their retirement and ensure those who are already retired have what’s truly best for them reach out or share where you can.

No one enjoys penalties but more importantly no one enjoys thinking they’re covered somewhere later to find out they are not.

💸Medicare Costs Made Clear

When your clients, employees, or loved ones have Medicare questions let’s put the myths, the misinformation, and the DIY work to rest.

Choosing the wrong plans are TOO costly…

Medicare offers vital health coverage for adults over 65 and those under 65 with certain disabilities, however understanding even the basic costs will help get rid of the myths around you.

💰 Part A Premium
For most, it's $0. When you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working, you've earned it…but “it” doesn’t cover everything.

💵 Part B Premium
The standard premium is the same for everyone how much you pay over that amount varies based on your income. This is your ticket to doctor visits, medical equipment, and outpatient services

🧾 Out-of-Pocket Costs
There are deductibles and copayments for services. Some may opt for Medigap or Advantage plans to cap or “supplement” these costs

💊 Part D Premium
Prescription drug coverage is not part of A or B, you'll choose a PDP with a separate premium or a plan that includes drug coverage

🚑 Emergency Hospital Visits
Under Part A, you'll have a deductible for each benefit period. Will you pay this or will you choose a plan that pays this for you?

💡 Medigap (Supplement) Plans

🌍 Medicare Beyond Borders: Coverage Abroad

Have you ever left the country without checking into what your health insurance coverage is other countries?

🗺️ Ever know someone who ran into a health issues outside of the U.S.?

Medicare isn’t always the same “out there” but it also doesn't have to keep you grounded at home…

I never end a discovery conversation with a person who is planning out their healthcare plans during retirement without understanding their travel plans along the way…and there are a few good reasons why…

Healthcare in retirement does not just mean right here, right now…and for some that future will be difficult to think about.

And if it’s the last healthcare they are planning to have…we need to give it some real thought.

What are some options?

🌐 Medigap (Medicare Supplement): Some Medigap plans do offer limited coverage for foreign travel emergencies.

💡Medicare Advantage: Some Advantage plans include emergency coverage while traveling internationally.

🏥 Catastrophic/Emergency Care: Original Medicare might cover emergency care abroad…the real question is how much? We need to check the rules for your destination.

✈️ Travel Insurance: Considering travel insurance to bridge the gap for healthcare overseas and tight situations could make a world of difference.

Remember that options and their details will vary, so it's wise to plan ahead.

Practicing the “5 P’s” (Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance) goes a LONG way so be sure to check again and pull a specialist into the chat when your travels are beyond the border!

🔍 Understanding Medicare Part D Plans 🔍

Medicare isn't just about doctor visits and hospitals – it's also about getting the medications people need.

By far the hardest part for folks on Medicare often times and where the most costly mistakes can be made...don't let confusion stand between them, their medications, and their out-of-pocket costs.

I'm talking thousands of $$$ annually and another reason I partner with business owners and professionals in other industries.

This confusion has to do with their Part D planning and understanding coverage, out-of-pocket breakdowns, deductibles, and the dreaded "donut hole"

Yes I said donut hole, but not those donut holes!

What is Part D?

💊 Part D is the prescription drug coverage portion of Medicare that helps pay for the medications prescribed by healthcare providers.

📦 How Does it Work?
- Each plan has a list of covered drugs, a formulary
- A typical formulary has five "tiers" and each tier consists of preferred generics, generics, preferred brands, non-preferred drugs, and specialty medications
- On average there can be 25 plans in each zip code to choose from
- Part D's have a monthly premium, deductible, and copayments/coinsurance for prescriptions.
- The only time you can change your Part D plan is during AEP season each year.
- Not only do people's prescriptions change throughout the year, but each year so do the plans and what they do and do not cover.
