This Halloween, we want to encourage everyone to prioritize safety, as the holiday presents its own set of risks. In fact, 3,200 Americans visit the emergency room due to Halloween-related injuries each year.

Swipe for a few tips to consider, and feel free to share these with your network as well ↩️

Keep in mind that it’s important to always supervise young children, whether they are trick-or-treating or carving pumpkins. For older children, encourage them to stay in a group and check in throughout the night.

We love sharing stories that bring a smile to your face! 😊

In Millburn, New Jersey, a mother named Therese Ojibway created a whimsical fairy forest along the Rahway Trail in the South Mountain Reservation for her son with autism. She wanted him to have a safe space to explore nature, so she started building small fairy cottages made from natural elements and hidden in tree trunks and branches.

The South Mountain Conservancy noticed the handmade fairy cottages appearing in the forest and allowed Therese Ojibway to continue creating her magical cottages as long as the fairy houses were confined to a half-mile section at the beginning of the Rahway River Trail.

This magical place, known as the Fairy Trail, has become a beloved spot for families and children. Though Therese and her son have since moved away, volunteers continue to maintain and add to the trail.

As we transition into fall, deer are more active, especially during dawn and dusk. With that in mind, it’s important to be extra vigilant on the roads throughout the season.

Here are some tips to keep you safe:

1️⃣ Drive slowly, and stay alert. Reduce your speed, especially in rural and wooded areas.
2️⃣ Always scan the shoulders for deer. At night, watch for the reflection of deer eyes in your headlights.
3️⃣ If driving at dawn or dusk, use your high beams when appropriate to increase visibility.
4️⃣ It may be tempting, but try to avoid swerving. If a deer appears, it's much safer to immediately brake and hit the deer than to swerve and risk a more serious accident.
5️⃣ Keep an eye out for more deer. Where there’s one, there are usually more.

If you have an incident with a deer and need guidance on filing a claim, we are always here to help. Stay safe and drive carefully this season.
