Back in 2018 and 2019, Tamara went through Liberty Mutual's PaceSetter Program, a year-long development program for new insurance producers that pairs each one with a dedicated sales coach, weekly coaching calls, and quarterly conferences. It's a demanding program by design... in an industry where only about one in three new producers survives their second year, PaceSetter's graduates have historically beaten those odds by a wide margin. Tamara didn't just finish it. She earned Super Producer recognition as one of the program's top performers.

A couple months ago, Liberty Mutual invited her back to Columbus to speak to the current class, and to sit on the Women of PaceSetter panel for the second time, alongside other women who've built agencies and careers from that same starting line.

The talk she gave was about how to incorporate AI into their day, and the main point was "the Job is still the Job." Meaning AI can't or shouldn't DO their job for them. There are parts of being in insurance that require relationships with people to be at the core of the job.

A lot of what we are at Mc-Wright started in that program: the discipline, the follow-up, the belief that you take care of the person in front of you and the business takes care of itself. We're grateful to Liberty Mutual for the invitation.

At Mc-Wright Insurance Group we had a list of goals like any business does — grow the book, take care of clients, build a team we could be proud of. But one goal on that list didn't have anything to do with insurance. We wanted the office to be more than a place where people come to sign paperwork. We wanted it to be a place the community could actually use.

This summer we did just that.

A group of ladies spent the morning in our office making prayer boards. Pink tablecloths on the desks, pictures printed out, scripture written by hand, stickers and ribbon and glue everywhere, each one building a board to hang at home as a daily reminder of the people and the things they're praying over. There was laughing, there was quiet, and there was a lot of "wait, does anybody have more tape?"

Last Saturday, Tamara Pharr and Stefany Gilleland laced up and ran the Just Jesus 5K at Fairpark in Tupelo.

If you haven't heard of Just Jesus Inc., it's worth knowing. It started right here in Tupelo with a little boy named Caleb Rodgers, who began raising money to put Bibles in people's hands when he was six years old. Today it's a full-fledged ministry that has given away more than 26,000 Bibles and devotionals — to kids around the world, to men in recovery programs and prisons, and to anybody who doesn't have one. Every dollar from the 5K goes straight to that work, and this year's race raised around $24,000.

That's the kind of thing we love about this community. Somebody sees a need, starts small, and the neighbors show up. Tamara and Stefany were proud to be two of the folks who showed up — and a little sore on Monday.

Mc-Wright Insurance Group has been part of Belmont for years, and now that we've got an office in Tupelo too, we're excited to be part of what's happening there.

A little late sharing this one, but it's too good not to.

A few weeks back, we got to be Liberty Mutual's guests at the very first Liberty Mutual Music City Kickoff in Nashville — Ole Miss vs. Louisville at Nissan Stadium. Saturday night music festival, Sunday tailgate, and watching the game from the suite with our Liberty team. Hotty Toddy and thank you, Liberty Mutual — especially Jay Lynch and Johnny Wilson — for taking such good care of us.

Nationally, insurers paid $1.86 billion on dog-related injury claims in 2025 across 28,450 claims. We wrote up where all that lands on the liability side of a homeowners policy, plus the two other yard questions that come up every August around here.

Somebody at the shop takes her own car to run the deposit to the bank and gets in a wreck on the way. Whose insurance is that?

A business auto policy doesn't list "cars" — it lists numbered symbols, and employee-owned vehicles sit under symbol 9. Plenty of small-business policies around here don't have it. Here's the plain-English version.

Commercial auto policies list covered vehicles by numbered symbol. Symbols 8 and 9 are where borrowed and employee-owned cars sit — and they're often blank.

Triple-I counts four states with no dog-bite statute, and Mississippi is one. Liability didn't disappear — it just runs through common law instead.

Alcorn County has 16,448 houses in it. Last year it issued 35 building permits for new ones — about one new house for every 470 already standing. Which means almost everything we insure around here has been standing a while. We pulled the Census numbers and wrote up what that actually changes about insuring an older home, including why the dwelling limit on your policy usually doesn't match what the house would sell for.

Alcorn County has 16,448 housing units and issued 35 residential building permits in 2025. Almost every house that stands there in 2035 is standing today.
