Existing-home sales rose 3.2% month-over-month and year-over-year in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.17 million, marking the strongest pace since December. Inventory increased 3.3% to 1.55 million units, while the months’ supply remained unchanged at 4.5 months. The median existing-home price rose 1.3% year-over-year to a record $429,300.
Takeaway: Overall, the report shows a modestly positive tone, with improving demand and rising sales supported by steady inventory gains, while still-tight supply conditions continue to keep home prices elevated.
