Attention Kia & Hyundai vehicle owners:

Both automakers have released statements regarding a solution to address the missing electronic engine, which has led to the dramatic rise in thefts of these vehicles and has even caused some insurance carriers to stop insuring these vehicles. A phased software update will be available for installation at local dealerships over the next few months. Vehicle owners are encouraged to contact the manufacturers for more information about these software updates:

Catalytic Converter thefts have been rampant lately. Here are 3 ways to protect yourself from these catalytic converter thefts:

1. Etch your VIN # or license plate number onto the catalytic converter to help make this part identifiable to law enforcement.

2. Install an anti-theft device/protective covering. Some body shops are able to bolt a metal shield to your vehicle’s frame to cover the catalytic converter (costs about $350). Other designs resemble a cage or armor plating.

3. Park in a well-lit area and turn on your vehicle alarm.

As 2020 comes to a close, it’s important to reflect on all that has happened this past year. For those of us fortunate enough to have physically and mentally survived this global pandemic, socioeconomic injustice, and all of life’s other challenges and obstacles, we must give gratitude and never take one day for granted, as tomorrow is never promised.

Giving back is a way to honor those whom we have lost, to help those who have lost their livelihoods, to restore some light in the darkness, and to better our communities in which we live. This year, Alandy Insurance has donated to the following charities/organizations to try helping those who have less or have lost hope and to help our world become safer, healthier, cleaner, and overall better:

1. Salvation Army
2. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research
3. New Bethlehem Project (for the homeless)
4. St. Louise Parish (education & various local outreach programs)

The goal for the New Year is to add more charities to the list by the end of 2021. Let’s all try to make a difference...one way or another. 🙏☮️❤️

Good news to all my auto insurance clients...our carriers will be issuing 15% or 20% (depending on carrier) refunds of your auto premium for 2 months in response to the coronavirus crisis.
