"Benefits open enrollment is an increasingly high-stakes process for organizations. In a 2022-2023 study by technology vendor, Isolved, 64% of respondents said a poor enrollment experience would cause them to look for new employment.

That study also found that more employees have come to expect technology will play an instrumental role in helping them make better benefits elections. For example, a significant number of respondents in the Isolved study said the availability of a virtual assistant to guide them to the best benefits choices was an important option for them."

To save on costs, many business owners are ditching their group health care plans for individual coverage health reimbursement arrangements.

"Health and industry experts said employers benefit from getting many of their employees vaccinated in the form of healthier workers who will ultimately take fewer sick days, not contribute to higher health care costs and be less likely to spread disease to others in the organization. Vaccines can reduce transmission, as well as the seriousness of viruses like COVID-19, and keep workers out of the hospital, said Mary Kay O'Neill, M.D., senior health consultant at MercerWELL."

Many HR and benefits leaders are encouraging workers to get vaccinated against flu, COVID-19—and even RSV. But with some employees reluctant about rolling up their sleeves, how can organizations proceed?

In Case You Missed It: "Unions representing 85,000 health care workers have reached a tentative agreement with industry giant Kaiser Permanente following a strike over wages and staffing levels, the parties announced Friday."

The ratification process is scheduled for this week. The deal includes setting minimum hourly wages at $25 in California and $23 in other states, like Washington state. Workers will also see a 21% wage increase over four years.

Unions representing 75,000 health care workers who recently held a strike against industry giant Kaiser Permanente have reached a tentative agreement with the company.
