Saric Consulting won the IHCA Associate Member of the Year Award for 2026. This is a great accomplishment with many years building relationships, partnerships and giving back to the LTC community throughout IL. We are a proud member and annual sponsor for IHCA as we believe in their purpose and how they support not only the LTC homes, but the associate members who work alongside the LTC communities.

Introduction and announcement at IHCA by Michael Bibo, Board Chair:

Our Associate members are the backbone of Convention. They help us deliver this event, and many others, to our provider members each and every year. With that, the next award is one that is chosen by IHCA each year. Our Associate Member of the Year Award is based off of how that individual organization and their representatives enhance and better services for IHCA members, how they engage with and support the association, and their dedication to our member’s mission.

This year’s winner has been steadily involved with the association since joining. Participating on committees, offering lunch and learn sessions, supporting IHCA mission, sponsorships, and even participating in the leaders program this year. This associate member is always available to help our members with questions and offer her expertise.

Last week, Stacy and Julie attended two senior fairs. Tuesday, they traveled to Marion, IL for their Senior Fair and Wednesday, they traveled to Carbondale for their Senior Fair at the Civic Center.

Both events were well attended with many conversations about services provided to our aging community and how Saric Consulting assists residents during a very difficult time as they navigate through the application process.

Julie and Stacy connected with Senator Paul Jacobs and Congressman Mike Bost to express gratitude in offering senior fairs in the communities they serve. It is important for our seniors to know how to age well at home, but also what to prepare for if they need placement. It is devastating to have conversations with families and to hear them make the comment, "I wish I would have known of you years ago".

Our goal at Saric, by attending senior fairs and other events, is to have an open discussion about what this process looks like so individuals and families can prepare if the time comes that they need skilled placement.

What a week for Saric Consulting at the IHCA 76th Annual Convention and Expo, Sara and Jessica represented big this year and IHCA did not disappoint!

Saric Consulting won Associate Member of the Year award for their involvement with the Association; supporting by way of sponsorships, participation in panels, Leader program, and providing input in the Associate & Individual Constituency Committee throughout the year.

The keynote speaker at opening session, April Simpkins, talked about mental health and how to take care of yourself so you remain healthy. Her story shook the room with emotion and put things into perspective that was not expected, but much needed.

Sara took part in a panel along with facility owners and another associate member in pharmaceutical to share thoughts as to what facilities could do if they had an extra $1 to invest back into their buildings, residents and staff. With costs rising and need for care increasing, Sara took this opportunity to share how contracting with Saric is a great way to invest back into their residents as it provides support to their families and staff to prevent financial loss with an easy ROI. By making sure the facility is paid for the care provided and residents are not scrambling trying to find resources to pay for incorrect notices issued by the Dept, it allows them to use those funds to improve their buildings, pay staff for quality work and make the resident's stay feel like home.

Sara spoke with attorney Steven Milburn with Dent Coulson Elder Law in a breakout session for members to gain continuing education hours. They discussed strategies to prevent financial loss by explaining Medicaid transfers and penalties. It is important for facility owners and their staff to understand what transfers are allowable and which will cause the resident to receive a penalty, often when those funds are no longer available to pay for care. There were many business owners who participated, showing their desire to educate themselves for the better of their homes and residents.

The evening focused on letting the members and vendors relax a bit and get to know each other in an after-party event with music, dinner and some drinks. It is nice to see the hardworking nursing home owners, managers, administrators, nurses, dietary, maintenance staff all enjoy some time celebrating themselves and acknowledge the hard work they put into their residents every single day.

A huge shout out to all the IHCA staff who put numerous hours into this event! What a great job juggling all the important details to make the vendors, members and owners feel important and worth their sponsorship, time away from work and cost associated in investing back into their staff to better their homes.
