2014 Best Spring Planting Dates for Seeds for Belleville, MI
When determining the best planting dates in the spring for seeds, the date of the last spring frost is important to your success. NOTE: Our chart calculates U.S. frost dates only, based on historical data. Other factors can also influence planting dates, including soil temperature, altitude and slope of land, nearby waters, and day length. Keep records of your garden's conditions each year to plan more accurately.

Seeds for plants with a long growing season should be started indoors during the periods shown below.
Seeds for plants sown in the ground should be planted during the periods shown.
When no dates appear in the chart, that starting method is not recommended for the particular vegetable.
To start transplants, see our Best Dates to Transplant (by region).
Planting by the Moon?
Above-ground crops are planted during the light of the Moon (new to full); below-ground crops are planted during the dark of the Moon (from the day after it is full to the day before it is new again). Planting is done in the daytime; planting at night is optional!

March 9, 2014 is Daylight savings time. Remember to turn your clocks back 1 hours.

The modern idea of daylight saving was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson[2] and it was first implemented by Germany and Austria-Hungary starting on 30 April 1916. Many countries have used it at various times since then, most consistently since the energy crises of the 1970s.

For more information on Daylight Savings time go to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time

Daylight saving time (DST) or summer time (see Terminology) is the practice of advancing clocks during the lighter months so that evenings have more apparent daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in the autu...

March 20th is the official first day of Spring. Now is the time to start thinking about spring cleaning and maybe some new paint or flooring. The easiest way to complete your spring project is to rent a storage unit to store all your items. This makes it nicer to do any of the painting and flooring.

Rawsonville Self Storage would love to help you so stop by now and get your unit before they are gone.

When you decide that you are going to use a storage unit the first thing to do is determine the correct unit size. If you are not sure call us and we will be glad to help you determine the correct sized unit.

Here are some helpful hints:

5x5: Small furniture: a chest of drawers, several boxes and a bicycle

5x10: A couch, chair, chest of drawers, mattress set, boxes and small items

10x10: Standard furnishings from a one bedroom apartment with a refrigerator or washer and dryer, plus boxes and small items

10x15: Furnishings from a two bedroom apartment or small house without major appliances, plus cartons and small items

10x20: Furnishings from a three or four bedroom apartment/house with major appliances or can hold a car or truck

10x30: Furnishings from a four or five bedroom house with major appliances or can hold a car, small truck or boat. This will hold the contents of a 40 foot moving van.

Tip for storing in the winter:

1.Make repairs before putting items in storage - people don’t remove items from self-storage facilities until they are ready to use them, at which point repairs are inconvenient and may cost more if you’re in a rush. Take the time to make sure everything is in good condition before it’s stored.

2.Thoroughly clean items - this is especially important if you’re using storage services for something that is primarily used outdoors. Get rid of any dirt, bugs or moisture before sealing it into a storage unit for the winter.

3. Use cotton or wool covers - vinyl or plastic tarps can cause damage to your items and lock in moisture. Moving blankets are a better solution for long-term storage.
