Please join us in welcoming Ryan Curtis, our new Associate Advisor, to the Vantagus Wealth team.

A lot of people think financial planning is just investment advice. Ryan sees it differently. He works directly with clients, getting to know where they came from, where they are today, and where they want to go. He likes to call himself a professional question asker, because the right question can bring up the things that have been quietly weighing on your mind.

That’s the heart of the Financial Game Plan. Every great plan starts with a great conversation, and Ryan helps turn that conversation into clear, confident next steps. He believes small action is better than none, and nothing energizes him more than seeing the relief on someone’s face when the pieces finally come together.

Outside the office, you’ll find Ryan on long walks with his wife, Ellie, learning something new through a YouTube video or an audiobook, and cheering on the Chicago Bears.

Today we’re celebrating Kristi De Rycke and 12 incredible years as part of our team!

As our paraplanner, Kristi plays such an important role behind the scenes, helping turn all the pieces of a client’s financial picture into a thoughtful, organized plan. She is dependable, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and always willing to jump in wherever she is needed.

But more than what she does, we’re grateful for who she is. Kristi brings a steady presence and a great attitude, and Vantagus simply wouldn’t be the same without her.

Last week our team spent a couple of days at a conference learning from fellow financial advisors, industry thought leaders, and some truly inspiring keynote speakers. We came home with pages of notes, but one theme kept coming up in session after session.

There is often a gap between what an advisor says they offer and what clients feel they actually receive. Advisors commonly list investment management, tax planning, estate planning, wealth protection, and charitable planning as part of their service. Yet when their clients are asked, many say several of those conversations never really happened.

That one stuck with us. It isn't enough for us to know we're covering these areas. You should know it too. If someone asked whether your advisor has talked with you about your taxes, your estate plan, or how you want to give back, you should be able to say, "Yes, we've done that," and understand why it matters for you and your family.

So that's our focus coming home. We want to be clearer about the conversations we're having, more intentional about explaining the value behind them, and keep building each Financial Game Plan around what you truly need.

We're grateful for the time to learn together as a team, and for a well-earned cookie break or two along the way, as you can see. Even more, we're grateful for the people we get to guide. Every great plan starts with a great conversation, and we're looking forward to many more of them.

Today we’re celebrating Connor’s one-year anniversary with Vantagus Wealth! 🥳

It’s been exciting to watch Connor grow over the past year. He has expanded his knowledge and responsibilities in Medicare and Property & Casualty insurance, while also reaching an important milestone by passing his SIE exam. 📚

Connor continues to take on new challenges, build his knowledge, and grow within our team. We’re proud of everything he has accomplished in his first year and look forward to seeing what year two brings.

Earlier this summer we drove up to Wisconsin for one of Jackson's baseball tournaments. Five hours in the car, a couple nights in a hotel, meals with the team, a Kringle run, a stop at the b**r garden.

Nothing extravagant. Just a pretty normal travel-ball weekend.

Then I got home and added it all up. We'd spent more than $1,000 in about three days. It wasn't one big purchase. It was a bunch of completely reasonable decisions stacked on top of each other.

I'm not telling you to skip the tournament. Those memories with Jackson are worth something too. But it's worth asking: are you spending this money because you decided it's worth it, or because it's simply what everyone around you is doing?
Enjoy the weekends. Just make sure you're spending on purpose.
