Hear Ye Hear Ye!

The time has come for our big news! You all have asked and we are answering the call! We are back again for 2025 and not only is the Olde Dominion Fantasy Medieval Faire back in September, but we have partnered with the Bedford Area Family YMCA to bring you our first trial of the May & Fae Faire. It will be a chance for us to bring you another event and try some new ideas!

As for our 3rd annual Olde Dominion Fantasy Medieval Faire in September--this year's theme is: "The Legend of the Grail". It will be an adventure with comedy and crusader knights for the whole family to enjoy. To answer everyone's question on location, we have partnered with the one and only Wind Vineyards at Smith Mountain Lake. This is an amazing opportunity to bring our interactive experience and this awesome venue and family together. This will be an amazing partnership to bring even bigger things to the community. Make sure to come visit on September 27th and 28th!

This is great news for homeowners insurance rates in the Town of Bedford and surrounding area!

One of the many initiatives former Chief Creasy had for the BFD was to lower the ISO rating for the Town of Bedford residents and business owners. Insurance Services Office (ISO), has the power to affect your insurance premium in a positive manner. The score reflects how prepared our community is for fires based on a 1-10 rating with 1 being the best. A week-long on site review through the Public Protection Classification program was completed last year which reviewed the departments training, apparatus capabilities, equipment, staffing, hydrant maintenance, hydrant testing, as well as available water for suppression and radio communications.
We are extremely pleased that we have been awarded an ISO score of 3 which is the lowest we’ve ever carried. This could not have been accomplished without the mind set of Chief Creasy, our committed membership, the Bedford Regional Water Authority, and the Bedford 911 Communications Center. Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
