Commercial Loan Officer Allen Snegosky was recently promoted to be the next President and CEO of Sherburne State Bank. The announcement was shared in a June 24, 2026, Facebook post which read, “Allen brings extensive corporate banking experience and a deep commitment to community success. Having served our organization locally, he understands the vital role of relationship banking firsthand.”
From Corporate to Local
Snegosky’s journey began at the University of Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 2010 in History and Political Science and hoped to become a history professor, but he admitted that the master’s program for that required him to learn three languages. The lowest grade he ever received in his college career was a C in Spanish, so he pivoted, ultimately earning his master’s in business administration from the U of M in 2018. Later, he graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2021.
After earning his BS, he worked for corporate banks ING Direct in St. Cloud and Wells Fargo in Minneapolis. In 2018, after reaching out to a former colleague, he discovered Sherburne State Bank. That colleague was the son of the then President and CEO of Sherburne State Bank, Kevin Doty, who hired him for a commercial lending position.
Building Relationships
Snegosky said the main reason he wanted to join Sherburne State Bank was because they put people first. They weren’t just numbers, which can lead to worse outcomes for everyone.
“Everyone cares at Sherburne, and they have a genuine connection to the people they serve,” he said.
The bank has three locations, Becker, Monticello, and Princeton. He explained that the money put into Sherburne State Bank stays in the communities it serves.
“It lifts everybody up.”
Loans to local businesses help them expand and hire more employees which leads to more demands for home loans and housing. Over the year he has worked at Sherburne County MN Governmenturne State Bank, he has seen a number of local businesses that started in garages grow and expand. He has become a trusted financial advisor and that has led to opportunities where he has been able to help beyond just loans. He has helped businesses sustain operations, build new facilities, and expand their vehicle fleets.
He has seen the Becker community grow, particularly along Hwy. 10, which he said has been completely revitalized. In fact, Sherburne State Bank was one of the last buildings to receive a facelift.
New Homes
Snegosky said he was most proud of the reception he received from colleagues when his promotion was announced. They were really happy that he had stepped into the role. A role that will allow him to continue to oversee the growth that the bank has been experiencing for the past five years. That growth is a direct result of the growth of the communities the bank serves.
His next goal is to help bring more affordable housing to those communities and to begin to create more starter homes by using all the resources his bank has access to, resources that all the big banks possess, but don’t use locally.
He summed up that thought by saying, “If you want to support your local community, support your local bank.”
