As our community begins recovering from the recent wildfires, we wanted to make you aware of another potential risk that often follows large fires - flooding and mudslides.

When vegetation is burned away, the ground is less able to absorb rainfall. Even moderate rainstorms can cause flash flooding, debris flows, and mudslides in areas affected by wildfire.

It is important to note that standard property insurance policies typically do NOT cover flooding.

If you have been considering flood insurance, now is the time to act as flood insurance policies have a standard 30 day waiting period before coverage becomes effective.
