What is "Broadway Joe" talking about?
We’ve all seen the commercials promising to put money back into your social security check. My clients want to know how. There are a couple of ways to reduce or eliminate your part B premium, putting money back into your social security check each month.
1. People who qualify for medical assistance may not have to pay for Part B. Medical assistance or Medicaid in PA is based on your income, assets, and resource limits. To see if you meet the requirements, visit www.compass.state.pa.us or call the helpline:
1-800-692-7462 TTY/TTD 1-800-451-5886.
2. Some Medicare Advantage plans offer a part B premium reduction. However, proceed with caution, as these plans may or may not be the right fit for you. For example, there are several Medicare Advantage plans in PA that offer a part B premium
reduction, but do not include drug coverage. People who have access to creditable drug coverage outside of Medicare, like people with veterans benefits or PACE, may benefit from one of these plans. People who need drug coverage through Medicare
would not. Call me and ask what Medicare Advantage plans in your county include a Part B premium reduction and if the benefits on that plan are right for you. To sum up, getting money put back into your social security check through Medicare may not be as easy as it sounds on TV. You may or may not benefit from a Part B
premium reduction based on your personal circumstances. Ask me to help you navigate the information so that your dollar goes further!
