What if your biggest advantage isn’t your education, network, or experience—but the lessons hidden in the journey you’ve already lived?

When I look back at my life, I don’t just see places. I see lessons.

* Santa Barbara County & Myrtle Beach: Humility and strong roots.

* My parents: Values, integrity, relationships, and understanding people.
* University of Cincinnati: How to think and solve complex problems.
* Early entrepreneurship: Business lessons started long before college.
* Books: Knowledge and possibilities.
* Xerox: Systems, process, and ex*****on.
* Washington, DC: Working with and supporting elements of the U.S. intelligence community, including the CIA, DIA, and NSA, taught me the difference between mission-driven and profit-driven organizations, and how leaders in each environment measure success differently.

One lesson stands above the rest:

🚹 Sometimes the best decisions you’ll ever make are the ones you never planned to make.

13+ years ago, I made a decision that would change the course of my life forever.

Beaufort, South Carolina wasn’t my first choice. It wasn’t a move that came after years of planning. Life simply presented an opportunity, and I took it. Looking back today, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

As a military brat whose father served in the Air Force, the military presence here felt familiar from the start. Beaufort is home to both Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, and that influence can be felt throughout the community.

Over the years, Beaufort has become much more than a place to live—it’s become home. What I love most is that it offers the charm of a small town while still giving you a taste of something bigger. Beautiful waterfront views, historic streets, good local restaurants, friendly people, and a strong sense of community.

And when you’re looking for more, you’re only a short drive from Hilton Head, Charleston, and Savannah, giving you access to even more dining, entertainment, history, and adventure.

Many of the photos in this video are ones I’ve personally taken this year. They capture some of the reasons why I love living here. You’ll also see a few special moments, including a wedding, the annual AKA charity ball, and a gospel revival that brought together an incredible community here in the Lowcountry.

Sometimes the best decisions aren’t the ones you spend years planning. Sometimes they’re the ones you simply have the courage to make.

For me, Beaufort wasn’t just a move. It was the beginning of a chapter I’m still grateful for today.

The concepts discussed in this video came from someone whose opinion, experience, and perspective I value very, very deeply. Someone who went from losing everything to rebuilding at a level most people will never experience in their lifetime.

What’s discussed here has the ability to completely change the way you think about success, business, growth, wealth, and your future. But only if you actually listen and apply it.
