What if the key to attracting more Brazilian tourists to Peru wasn’t a new destination, but a familiar way to pay? 🇧🇷🇵🇪

Our Online IPS Peru team identified an opportunity: while Argentina and Chile attract millions of Brazilian visitors, Peru welcomes only a fraction of that number.

The question was simple: Could removing payment barriers help Peru unlock more of Brazil’s tourism potential?

It sparked a conversation with the Instituto Cusqueño de Economía about making Peru more accessible to Brazilian travelers through PIX, Brazil’s widely adopted instant payment method.

Today, that vision is becoming a reality.

MP 1.394/2026 took effect on 25 September. It prohibits fixed-odds betting and related advertising in Brazil, with short transition periods for existing operators.

Industry associations have asked Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF) to suspend the measure.
