USDA’s latest Crop Progress report offers a new snapshot of harvest activity across major producing states.

For the week ending October 4, corn harvest reached 23% across the 18 states tracked, while soybean harvest reached 25% across its selected states. Progress continues to vary significantly by crop, state, and local conditions.

Tennessee livestock producers: applications for the 2026–27 Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program are open through October 7.

This year’s programs include a new Livestock Fencing option for eligible permanent perimeter and cross-fencing projects. Review the requirements and eligible investments before applying.

Tennessee agricultural producers will have a new opportunity to receive cost-share assistance through the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) this year with the addition of a Livestock Fencing program. The 2026-27 TAEP application window opens today, Oct. 1, and closes Oct. 7.

USDA’s 2026 ARC and PLC election and enrollment period is now open through December 11, 2026.

Producers should allow time to review their base allocation information, program options, and any crop-insurance considerations before making an election. Enrollment is available online or through a local Farm Service Agency office.
