All week we are collecting new or gently used books to give back to our community at our Portage, Battle Creek, Coldwater, and Jackson branches. We believe in the importance of childhood literacy and want your help in telling that story!

Give a Book. Share a Story. 📚

Dolly Parton was incredibly passionate about childhood literacy, founding the Imagination Library to help put books into the hands of kids. In honor of her legacy, we're doing a little of the same right here in our communities. ❤️

August 28–September 7, donate new or gently used children's books at our Battle Creek, Portage, Coldwater, or Jackson locations.

All books collected will be donated to local organizations serving kids in our communities.

We asked kids at the Kalamazoo Balloon Fest one simple question: What are you saving for?

And we loved hearing every answer. 💙

Because whether the goal is a new toy, their first pet, something BIG someday, or something they’ve had their eye on for weeks, learning to save for something you really want is a pretty great lesson to learn early.

That’s exactly what our Trailblazer Youth Banking Program is all about: helping kids start building good money habits, set goals, and experience how good it feels to work toward something of their own.

Harper Creek, we’re crashing your concession stand!

This Wednesday, August 26, the BlueOx crew is taking over concessions during the Harper Creek Freshman and JV football games...and cutting concession prices by 50% for the night.

Here’s the best part: Harper Creek doesn’t lose a dime. At the end of the night, BlueOx will match concession sales, helping put those dollars right back into the school’s athletic program. Lower prices for families. A night off for concession volunteers. More support for Harper Creek athletics. That’s what Crash the Concession is all about!

Two nights. A whole lot of glow sticks. And some seriously cool balloons lighting up the night. ✨🎈

We had such a great time at the Kalamazoo Balloon Fest, handing out glow sticks, hearing about your savings goals, meeting so many families, and watching the balloons light up the night during the balloon glow. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the BlueOx tent to say hi, enter our giveaway, or spend a few minutes with us. And, of course, thank you to the incredible crew behind this festival for rolling with Michigan weather and still giving our community a weekend worth celebrating.

We’re pretty lucky to get to be part of things like this. 💙

Before there was a Kalamazoo Balloon Fest, there was a savings account and a pretty big goal...

Long before he was putting on this event, Derrick Jones, Founder and Director, was saving up for a hot air balloon of his own. With some discipline and a lot of saving, he reached that goal and bought his first balloon at just 16 years old. 🎈

In this clip, Derrick shares why he believes learning to save for the things you want while you’re young is so important.
