PRF insurance is already proving its value in 2026.
In North Mississippi and West Tennessee, indemnity payments have already triggered within the first TWO intervals of the year โ and there are still 9 intervals left to go. Thatโs exactly why so many producers are taking a harder look at Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) coverage as part of their risk management plan.
With PRF, you choose your coverage intervals (minimum of 2), and we help you make those selections using the historical rainfall data specific to your county.
If the rainfall index for your area falls below the historical rainfall index during your selected interval, you generate an indemnity payment. Itโs designed to help protect against lack of rainfall that can impact grazing and hay production.
Unfortunately, PRF coverage can only be purchased during the sign-up period at the end of each year for the following crop year. So while itโs too late to get coverage for 2026, now is still a great time to start looking at what may be beneficial for your operation for 2027. Reviewing historical interval performance in your county ahead of sign-up can help you make more informed decisions when enrollment opens.
