Great post from Basalt Police Department - this differentiation is also similar to how the items are separated for insurance, to be covered properly to ensure you would have a successful claim if need, the E-bike should be insured under your home or renters, the E-cycle is insured as a motorcycle/ scooter and for liability purposes the e-bike would fall under your personal liability umbrella if you have one and the E-cycle has its own coverage on the scooter/motorcycle policy!

With school out and summer in full swing, we’re seeing more kids, families, cyclists, pedestrians, e-bike riders, and outdoor enthusiasts enjoying everything Basalt has to offer.

As our parks, sidewalks, bike paths, trails, and streets become busier, the Basalt Police Department wants to remind everyone to be patient, courteous, and respectful of one another. A simple wave, a smile, or slowing down for someone else can go a long way toward keeping our community safe and welcoming.

We also encourage parents to take a few minutes to review the differences between E-Bikes and E-Motos. While they may look similar, Colorado law treats them very differently. Understanding the rules can help keep our young riders safe, legal, and out of trouble.

Let’s work together to make this a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone.

Please share, per Colorado Department of Transportation Summit County: I-70 CLOSURE- Eastbound lanes closed at Exit 203 in Frisco for a crash on Silverthorne hill. Dam Road is moving. Lots of trucks parked and waiting around the exit.

Please share important info on the closure from Pitkin County Government and Aspen Airport! Dates of impact, parking and towing details!

The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will be closed for maintenance and improvements from Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 9 a.m. through Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 7 p.m. During this time, Elk Lot parking will be unavailable due to necessary parking lot improvements. All vehicles must be removed from the Elk Lot before the closure begins. Vehicles remaining in the lot will be towed at the owner’s expense.
