The number of hybrid and electric vehicles on the road continues to grow, bringing new technology, added features, and exciting benefits for drivers. But when it comes to insurance, an EV isn’t always treated the same as a traditional vehicle.

Before you hit the road, here are a few things to consider:
🔹 Your insurance carrier matters – Not every insurance company has the same experience or coverage options for electric vehicles. Your agent can help determine if your current carrier is the right fit.
🔹 Manufacturer coverage options – Some vehicle manufacturers offer their own insurance programs. It’s worth exploring your options to make sure you’re getting the protection you need.

You may have seen headlines claiming that Medicare Part D costs will increase because federal subsidies are ending.

Here's what you need to know:
✔️ The subsidies ending after 2026 were temporary payments to insurance companies, not direct payments to Medicare beneficiaries.
✔️ These payments were created to help insurance carriers adjust after the Inflation Reduction Act eliminated the Medicare Part D "donut hole" and introduced an annual cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs beginning in 2025.
✔️ As the temporary program ends, some Part D premiums may increase in 2027. However, this does not automatically mean your prescription drug costs will increase.
✔️ The end of these subsidies does not affect Medicare's Extra Help program or the annual out-of-pocket prescription drug spending cap.

The important thing to remember is that 2027 Medicare Part D plans have not been finalized yet. Insurance companies are still submitting their plans, and Medicare is reviewing them. We'll have a much clearer picture once plan details are released this fall.

Don't let alarming headlines cause unnecessary worry. Every year brings changes to Medicare, which is why reviewing your coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period is so important.
