This is a hot market but home staging can still get you more offers. Here are some tips on how to you can stage your home to get ready for showings.

The number one rule is “Less is More.”

1. Declutter! —Every closet and room. Neat closets that aren’t crowded make buyers feel like there is plenty of space.
2. De-personalize—Put away family photos and personalized items. Buyers like to see themselves living in your home.
3. Neutralize—Use neutral paint colors throughout your home. Also use neutral or light colored bedding in bedrooms. Add a slip cover to a boldly printed sofa or chairs.
4. Remove window treatments—The more natural light coming in, the better. If the window treatments are light and not patterned, this doesn’t not necessarily apply.
5. Put an air mattress in an extra bedroom—Add bedding and pillows to dress it up like a permanent bed. It helps buyers envision how a room can be used.
