Derby weekend has always been my favorite time of year—goes all the way back to when I was a kid. There’s just something about it. And while we don’t spend it at the track, I wouldn’t trade our setup for anything… good people, good food, and being surrounded by friends and family.

When Millicent and I got married and moved into our house, we started a little tradition—bringing in a bounce house for the kids. At the time it was just fun chaos… but now, getting to watch my little guy actually enjoy it and go all in has taken it to a whole new level. Makes the weekend that much better.

Derby, family, friends, and a bounce house full of energy… hard to beat.

Oh—and I’ll be pulling for #15 Emerging Market. 🐎💰

Just got back from an awesome trip to DC with Big I Kentucky for the annual Big I Legislative Conference.

Had the chance to tour the White House, and one moment I won’t forget… a security guard stopped me and said, “Sir, you’re standing on the exact spot where President Barack Obama told the world Osama Bin Laden had been killed.”

We also got to sit down with several of our representatives—Andy Barr, James Comer a few others, and love him or hate him, Mitch McConnell. McConnell spent about an hour with us and probably 45 minutes just talking about his career. With him on his way out it was something I’ll always remember.

Trips like this are about advocating for the issues that matter to independent agents and our clients—but I’ll tell you what, we also have a damn good time doing it. The Big I has been great for my career, and the serving on the Emerging Leaders Board is one of the best decisions I have made since joining the industry.

Excited to be heading to Washington, D.C. this week for my first Big “I” Legislative Conference 🇺🇸

Grateful for the opportunity to represent our agency and connect with independent agents from across the country. I’m especially looking forward to meeting with our elected officials from Kentucky to discuss the key issues impacting our industry and the clients we serve every day.

Opportunities like this allow us to grow, build relationships, and bring valuable insight back home.

Let’s get to work. 💼

One of the biggest parts of my job that people never see:

Advocating for my clients behind the scenes.

Recently, I worked on a farm account where the goal wasn’t just to find coverage—it was to make sure everything was structured correctly AND competitive with the current $3,400 policy.

That meant:
• Walking through ownership between individuals and an LLC
• Making sure coverage actually lined up the right way
• And going back and forth with the carrier to get pricing where it needed to be

That’s the difference between just having a policy… and having someone in your corner.

My job isn’t to just quote it.
It’s to fight for it.

If you want an agent that’s going to go to bat for you, let’s talk.

Spent the day at the Big I Emerging Leaders Tailgate at Keeneland, and I’m reminded just how impactful this organization has been on my career in the insurance industry. The relationships, knowledge, and opportunities that come from being involved with such a great group of professionals are second to none.

But today was even more special because I got to share the experience with my wife, Millicent. Being able to mix a little business with quality time together made it a even better day. Grateful for the chance to connect with our carrier partners and fellow independent agents from across Kentucky while enjoying such a great atmosphere.

Days like today are a reminder of why I’m proud to be part of this industry.

One of the biggest mistakes I see on business insurance policies… wrong class codes.

Most business owners have never heard of them, but class codes determine how your business is rated and covered on a policy.

If those codes are wrong, a few things can happen:

• You could be paying way more than you should
• Your workers comp audit could come back thousands higher
• In some cases, coverage issues could pop up during a claim

The scary part?
A lot of business owners assume their policy is set up correctly… but nobody has ever actually reviewed it with them.

That’s where working with an independent agent matters.

My job isn’t just to find a price — it’s to make sure your policy is structured correctly from the start.

If you own a business and have never had your class codes reviewed, it might be worth a second look.

Kentucky weather can change in a hurry — sometimes it feels like we get all four seasons in the same week.

With spring storms right around the corner, it’s a good time to make sure your home and auto insurance coverage are keeping up with the weather.

Things like wind damage, hail, and flooding can catch people off guard if they haven’t looked at their policy in a while.

If you want a quick review to make sure everything still looks good, I’m always happy to help.

I saw a post the other day that really stuck with me.

It said something like…
“As insurance agents, don’t forget where you come from. The people you relate to most are usually the people you’re meant to serve.”

That hit home.

Because trucking isn’t just a market I work in —
it’s how I grew up.

My late grandfather built a trucking company with a fleet of over 30 trucks.
My dad served as his vice president, and later became an owner-operator himself.

I grew up around shop talk, breakdowns, DOT headaches, long nights, and early mornings. I’ve seen firsthand how much sacrifice it takes to keep trucks rolling and provide for a family.

So when I help trucking businesses with insurance, it’s not just another policy to me.

I understand:
✔ what a truck being down really costs
✔ how tight margins can be
✔ and how important it is to have coverage that actually protects your livelihood

That’s why I’m proud to serve owner-operators and fleets with commercial trucking insurance that’s built for the real world — not just paperwork.

If you’re in trucking and want someone who understands your business because he lived around it his whole life, I’d love to help.

Most contractors think their General Liability policy covers everything.

It doesn’t.

I see this all the time:

✅ GL policy in place
✅ Workers comp covered
❌ No coverage for tools, trailers, or equipment theft

One stolen trailer…
One break-in…
One night…

…and your crew can’t work tomorrow.

That’s not just an insurance problem — that’s payroll, deadlines, and lost jobs.

If you’re a contractor, ask yourself:
👉 If my tools disappeared tonight, could I still operate in the morning?

If the answer is no, we should talk.

I help Kentucky contractors close coverage gaps before a claim ever happens.
