MIDLAND INSURANCE CMHS STUDENT OF THE WEEK - BRAYLAN MCGUIRE!!!

Congratulations, Braylan!!! Well…I’ve been watching this girl play basketball for 4-5 years and she is pretty amazing at basketball. But she’s also one of the sweetest and most awesome girls I’ve met. We’ve never really had the opportunity to hang out much but she stopped by my office this week. Braylan is 16 years old and is a junior at Midland where she is an incredible student, friend, and athlete! She has a 4.6+ GPA all while taking AP, honors, and duel credit classes and being very involved in athletics. Braylan is also in the National Honor Society. She told me that she always tries to be nice and friendly to everyone she meets and that her favorite things during her time at Midland have been the great friendships she’s made and playing basketball.

Speaking of basketball…this little beauty is more than just brains. She’s a beast on the basketball court! 💪🏀 Braylan came to CMHS from Barboursville Middle School where she played basketball all three years. The minute she stepped on the court she became a major contributor to my Lady Basketball Knights! She has been on the varsity all three years and this year started at point guard where she helped lead the team all the way to the state tournament!!! Braylan was ranked first in the state for assists (which is the primary responsibility of a point guard) and was honored for her amazing play this year by being named to the All MSAC 2nd team and honorable mention All State!! 💪💪 Braylan also plays travel ball for the Tri-State Pride. I can’t wait to watch her have an amazing senior year next year. Oh….and she also randomly started running track this year. 🏃🏻‍♀️🤣🤷🏻‍♂️ I know she’ll be great at that too!

Braylan has a sister named Madison who is 19 years old and two dogs named Daisy and Dax. She attends youth group at Sanctuary of Grace in Fairland. When she has free time she likes to hang out with friends, play pickle ball, fish, go to Midland games, go to Marshall games and shop online. When Braylan graduates from Midland she intends to play college basketball, major in political science and economics, and then go to law school. Well I know she’ll be extremely successful in whatever she does! We’re all so proud of you, Braylan!! Congratulations!
