In 1998, Motorola helped switch on a $5 billion satellite phone network.

The handsets were the size of a brick and cost about $3,000. Calls ran $6 to $30 a minute.

About a year later, the whole network sold for roughly $25 million.

Now SpaceX is buying up spectrum for billions, and telecom shares sank the moment the news broke.

But let me tell you something: Musk isn’t building another Iridium.

A little after midnight on September 25, pilots flying out of LAX reported GPS interference.

Less than an hour later, another flight reported the same thing.

Nobody has confirmed what caused it. But what worries me more isn’t losing your signal.

It’s a GPS that confidently tells you you’re somewhere you’re not.

That’s called spoofing. It used to be something you only saw in war zones. Now it’s showing up in civilian life, and Washington’s own watchdog says the FAA still can’t fully monitor it in real time.

Boeing built the Everett factory to assemble the 747. It covers about 98 acres and is one of the largest buildings on Earth.

The proposed Terafab in Texas could be 20 times bigger.

For years the hard part of computing was the chip. Now it’s the electricity. Meta’s Hyperion campus in Louisiana could scale to 5 gigawatts, which is the output of several power plants.

Data centers go up fast. Transformers, transmission lines and power plants take years to build. That gap is turning a tech boom into an industrial one, and the biggest winners may not be the chipmakers.

As I put it in today’s Wealth Daily: “The biggest constraint on the computer of the future may no longer be the computer.”
