🍇 A look inside Kern County agriculture!

This week, Kern County Farm Bureau visited Anthony Vineyards for an agricultural tour, getting a firsthand look at their table grape harvest and packing operations.

It was a great opportunity to learn more about the process, see harvest in action, and gain a deeper appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing California-grown table grapes.

Thank you to Anthony Vineyards for welcoming us and sharing a look at your operation!

Did you know? In the 1800s, cotton was so valuable it earned the nickname “white gold!” 💰

Cotton played a major role in fueling the Industrial Revolution, particularly in textile manufacturing. As demand soared, cotton became a driving force behind economic growth and global trade, helping establish the United States as one of the world's leading producers.

Kern County was once a major powerhouse for cotton, known for its high-quality Pima and Upland varieties, used in everything from premium clothing to home goods.

As cotton harvest season arrives, we wish all our Kern County cotton growers a safe, productive, and successful harvest! 🚜🌱

Last Friday, Leadership Bakersfield got a firsthand look at Kern County agriculture during Agriculture Day! 🌱

The group toured Golden Empire Shelling, Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds, Cauzza Growers and Farmer’s Co-Op Gin, learning more about the operations, people and issues shaping agriculture in our county. The day also included a Lunch & Learn focused on water and the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
