Yesterday was a full day of conversations focused on Kern County agriculture.🚜

We joined Congressman Vince Fong at SEPRO Water’s Golden Mussel Forum to discuss the growing threat of golden mussels and the challenges facing California’s water systems and agriculture.

Later, we met with Congressman David Valadao and the California Farm Bureau to discuss the issues and priorities facing our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses.

We appreciate the opportunity to keep Kern County agriculture at the table.

Happy National Potato Day! 🥔

Did you know the part of the potato plant we eat grows underground, but it isn’t actually a root? Potatoes are tubers, specialized underground stems that store energy for the plant.

Kern County growers produce several varieties of potatoes, including reds, russets, whites and Yukon Golds.

Today we’re celebrating the growers behind this underground staple! 🌱🥔

There’s a whole lot of shaking going on in Kern County! 🌳

Almond harvest is underway, and shakers are rolling through local orchards, kicking off another busy harvest season.

Did you know? After almonds are shaken from the trees, they are left on the orchard floor to dry naturally before being swept into rows and picked up for processing.

Wishing our Kern County almond growers a safe and successful harvest!
