SB 562: Californians Said NO. So Why Is Ashby Still Pushing It?

Back in 2020, California voters made a powerful statement—we rejected SB 10, the bill that would’ve wiped out cash bail and left too much power in the hands of judges and algorithms. It wasn’t even close.

Now, Senator Angelique Ashby is back with SB 562, trying to sneak through the same idea with a new label.

But we’ve seen this trick before.

SB 562 is just SB 10 in disguise. It weakens accountability, hurts working families, and puts our communities at risk. Bail gives people a chance to get home, go to work, care for their kids—while still showing up to court. Ashby’s bill chips away at that.

And here’s the kicker…
