Callahan County Voters: An Update on Early Voting Locations

We have heard your concerns regarding early voting locations and would like to provide clarification regarding the original plan and the steps being taken to address those concerns.

The original plan was to conduct early voting exclusively at the courthouse. This arrangement was outlined in the contracts signed by the City of Clyde and Clyde CISD, as well as in the County’s Order of Election.

The decision to use only the courthouse was based on several considerations, including limited space at alternative locations and the noise and disruption that election activities can bring to offices that must continue conducting their regular business. Additionally, adding another early voting location is expected to cost approximately $7,500. My intention was to avoid placing this additional financial burden on the City of Clyde, Clyde CISD, and Callahan County.

Following Commissioners Court, Mr. Mann and I discussed the concerns raised by voters, explored available options, and made several phone calls to determine whether an additional early voting location could be accommodated.

As a result of these discussions, Commissioners Court will meet Friday to consider amendments to the existing contracts and the County’s Order of Election to include an additional early voting location at the Clyde JP1 Office.

I appreciate the feedback we have received from Callahan County voters. While the original plan was developed with space, operational, and financial considerations in mind, we recognize the importance of listening to our community and exploring solutions when concerns are raised.

Thank you for your patience and continued engagement as we work through this process. Our goal remains to serve Callahan County voters while being mindful of the responsibilities and costs associated with administering elections.

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback please call the Clerk’s Office at 325-854-5815.

IMPORTANT COURTHOUSE UPDATE!

We are excited to announce that on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Callahan County Clerk’s Office will officially reopen in the courthouse!

Early voting will begin in the basement of the courthouse on Monday, October 19, 2026.

As we make this exciting transition, we ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation. The County Clerk’s Office needed to move first to prepare for early voting, so please keep in mind that the courthouse is still a work in progress. There are workers on-site, and some final touches still need to be completed before all offices are moved back in.

If you need to conduct business with the County Clerk’s Office, we welcome you! However, we kindly ask that you please do not wander the courthouse halls while work is still being completed. The County Clerk’s office is located on the first floor on the east end of the hall.

If you are coming to vote, please proceed directly to the basement of the courthouse.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we make this final push to get all county offices back into the courthouse. We are excited and appreciate your help in keeping the transition safe and smooth for everyone!

Thank you for your cooperation!
