Lisa Reba Mason
Born May 15 1961 Lisa Reba Mason born in Fort Worth Texas always has experienced life in a big way! Reba was the middle child to two brothers and lived in Texas most of her childhood. While in school in her early years she served on the Rodeo, Drill and Diving Team as well as a Cheerleader. During this same time Reba was crowned Miss NTHSRA Queen and Rodeo Queen for the local
high school she attended. She received a rodeo scholarship to Tarleton State but after less than a semester she tried out for a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader position and served in that capacity for 4 amazing seasons and traveled with the squad all over the year. In 1985 Reba married and had 3 children (two sons and a daughter) and her family became her focus. After moving to Arizona Reba’s life work has been in the west valley of Phoenix, Arizona and then restaurant industry where she was known as Marketer Extraordinaire. Because of my great connections with the community and the love of the people she has always wanted to help in any way. In October of 2011 I had a 2D mammography, and that led to a diagnosis of breast cancer. I was devastated by the news but not entirely surprised. I and about a dozen other family members carry the BRCA2 estrogen receptor-positive gene, which greatly increases the risk of developing the disease. My mother, Marla Sue Mason, lived with breast cancer for 18 years before passing away in 2014. “My mother was fond of the phrase, ‘Fight like a girl’ and I take my strength from her,”
After a long battle in September 2014, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. After this diagnosis it was important for me to leave a legacy for my community and after collaborating with Banner Lakes Imaging Center’s Marketing Manager, Gina Sheets, Reba’s Vision was created. The result of this collaboration is the Pink Roadhouse Mammo Fund, used to provide women with free 3D Mammograms to those without insurance or if their insurance does not cover 3D Mammograms. This program covers the entire west valley of Maricopa County and encompasses over 50 zip codes in the area. I continuously fundraise for the Pink Roadhouse Mammo Fund so that no one person is ever turned away due to lack of funding and in one year over $50,000 has been raised. I am currently engaged to be married in March of this year so you see there is no stopping this gal as I continue to “Fight Like A Girl”!
