⚠️Criminals are impersonating city and county planning or zoning officials to steal money from individuals and businesses with active permit applications.

How the Scam Works:
•Emails look official and include real permit details (addresses, case numbers, names of officials).
•Messages come from fake domains (e.g., .com).
•Attached invoices request payment via wire transfer, payment apps, or cryptocurrency.
•Messages create urgency and warn of delays if payment isn’t sent.
•Scammers encourage email only communication to prevent verification.

Protect Yourself:
•Don’t trust emails based solely on logos or professional formatting.
•Verify the sender’s full email address and domain.
•Check your city or county website for fraud alerts.
•Call the government office using the phone number on the official website to confirm any fees.
