What an honor it is to have qualified for the firm's invitation-only Momentum conference! Only 822 financial advisors have been invited, out of the firm's more than 19,000 across the U.S. and Canada.

The conference is designed to recognize some of the firm's high-achieving financial advisors who have embraced the momentum it takes to build and sustain a successful practice through leadership, service, advice and guidance. I'm looking forward to collaborating with firm leaders and other top-performing financial advisors.

I believe that the more I learn, the better I can serve my clients, and three days to meet with our senior-most leaders and other successful financial advisors will be a mecca of learning. The Momentum conference is in Orlando, FL, from May 20-23.

The passage of SECURE 2.0 has several important changes that could benefit your financial strategies, including:

• Increase in the required minimum distribution (RMD) beginning age to 73 in 2023 and 75 in 2033
• Employer matches for qualified student loan payments
• Ability to roll over 529 assets to a Roth IRA for the 529 beneficiary
• New or expanded penalty exceptions for early withdrawals

For those who may not be aware, my family and I have relocated to Virginia during the last year. We have had a smooth transition and with the help of Patty and our team at Edward Jones, we are committed to continue delivering a family centered, personalized level of service to each of our clients. Thank you to everyone involved in our transition and look forward to serving.

One of my long-time clients once told me that the reason he worked with me was so he could be confident about his situation. It struck me in this moment that stress, anxiety and worry are core feelings for many individuals and families as they grow and protect their family's goals. Coming from large extended families including my wife and three children, I understand the pressures and outside forces that can trigger the worry.

While playing Division 1 baseball during my time at Liberty University, I was often called on during late inning, high pressure situations to close out ball games as a pitcher. This role taught be how to block out distractions and outside pressures in order to stay focused on the goals that are important to my team. Similarly, there are many forces that can derail you from executing your financial goals. I have been able to help clients stay focused on the important factors that lead to financial success which allows them to spend more time on the things they love the most.

In 2011, I left the teaching and coaching profession in the public-school system to pursue a career with Edward Jones. Although not in a classroom, I have brought the heart of a teacher to my practice where I will help you understand what is most important to you and build a strategy to reach financial confidence. Along with the help of my branch office administrator, Patty, I will guide and coach you to reach your desired outcomes.

With this approach, I was blessed to attend the Barron's Top Advisor Conference and hold the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation.
