The Home Loan Expert - Our Story

The Home Loan Expert didn’t just show up as one of the nation’s top Mortgage Lenders by chance. Ryan Kelley built his business from the ground up starting in 2004 as a Loan Officer with Shelter Mortgage. By 2008, Ryan made the decision to start building his dream, TheHomeLoanExpert.com. He was newly married to his wife Tracy and they had their first child on the way(they now have three children together). He was confident that his vision, hard work, and customer-first approach would provide the platform needed to offer his clients a better loan process.

With only his vision and zero capital to open an office, Ryan started as a Loan Officer working out of his basement. From there he began knocking on doors and selling himself and his vision for the future of the home loan business. His drive and ambition led him to become known around town as The Home Loan Expert, the guy who knows how to get his clients the best rate for their home loan. He was helping first time home buyers looking for a home purchase, refinancing their loan, considering a debt consolidation, or looking for an FHA, HARP, USDA, VA, or Jumbo Loan. As referrals poured in and word spread, the demand for mortgages from The Home Loan Expert became overwhelming. Ryan began creating a team from the ground up. Ryan didn’t want to bring in “the typical old school mortgage team” with ingrained ideas or bad habits, or stuck in “the old way” of doing things. He wanted new blood to conquer the industry and he wanted to do it his way.

In 2017, Ryan launched what is now one of the fastest growing VA Mortgage Lenders in the nation, Hero.Loan. Hero.Loan makes it simpler and more affordable for veterans and military families to get the home loans they deserve. The Hero.Loan program streamlines the VA mortgage process and takes a lot of the qualification work off the veteran and is taken care of by Hero.Loan- this is the kind of service our nation’s heroes deserve. Ryan has grown TheHomeLoanExpert.com and Hero.Loan nationally and can be heard on the radio with the on-air staff and on TV during sporting events. Having created enormous growth in his companies, Ryan finds happiness in being a job creator while offering a product that saves people thousands of dollars. Fulfilling his American dream, Ryan went from working out of his basement without a guaranteed paycheck to owning and operating one of the nation’s most successful companies. Though most people would be content with that success, Ryan felt there was more to life than just a successful business or strong bottom line. His larger than life personality pushes him out of his comfort zone to raise awareness and money for important charities. He goes beyond just donating his money. He pushes his mental and physical limits to understand the difficulties others endure, all while raising awareness for so many organizations. He has climbed multiple mountains, marched miles through the desert in the Bataan Memorial Death March, pedaled 50 miles on a bike and even took a punch in the face in a professional boxing match. His greatest reward and passion is giving back and making the community a better place.
