Interested in the stock market or investing? Want to learn finance and accounting way before you even get to take your first finance or accounting class?

The University Securities Investment Team (USIT) is UT’s largest, premier investing organization with a $55K+ student-run portfolio and 200+ members of all majors. Through an analyst group curriculum starting from the very basics of what a stock even is, we help build a foundation of finance and accounting to help you learn to invest. Members of USIT have gone into careers in investment banking, consulting, trading, private equity, and corporate finance, just to name a few.

Yesterday, USIT hosted our first flagship competition, the Texas Charity Pitch (TCP), with the added challenge of managing everything all virtually. Twenty teams chose a charity and presented its finances, management, and effectiveness before a panel of esteemed judges. Winning teams received a donation to their charity of choice of up to several thousand dollars.

We wanted to give a huge shoutout to our sponsors and judges who took the time out of their busy schedules to help make our event a huge success! Also, a big thank you to our Executive Team and the USIT Board for running the behind-the-scenes work. This event wouldn't have been possible without everyone's contributions.

Finally, a huge round of applause to our top 3 teams. Thank you for all your hard work in making a difference in the world!

As USIT ramps up in preparation for the new virtual semester, we’re excited to welcome both new and returning members!

USIT is the premier investing organization on campus and the only finance club that regularly sends teams to represent UT at National stock pitch competitions. Our 300+ members gain insight on investment strategy through investing and managing our ~$50k securities portfolios as well as learning through our advanced finance and accounting curriculum. We also host four flagship competitions throughout the year to give students an opportunity to showcase the knowledge gained throughout their time in USIT.

The organization is composed of our general members and 3 internal branches: Board, SCG, and QMI. General membership is open to ALL MAJORS, and we encourage anyone with the slightest interest to come join the USIT family. Our internal branches are all application-based, with apps going live later in the fall. But beyond being a finance organization, USIT is also a community where members are able to connect over different hobbies, such as poker, cooking, and hiking! Come chat with current members and meet new friends at our virtual info sessions on Sept 1st 5-7pm, Sept 3rd 6-8pm, and Sept 4th 5-7pm! All info sessions will cover the same topics so you only need to attend one session. Zoom links will be posted as time draws closer. Can’t wait to see you there!

As USIT ramps up in preparation for a new semester, we'd like to introduce you to USIT's newest offering: Quantitative Market Intelligence.

Quantitative Market Intelligence (QMI) is a new branch of the USIT Foundation (www.texasusit.org) that practices quantitative research and investing. It focuses on equipping members with finance, computer science, and math skills through a project-based curriculum. Members of the program will produce research papers answering fundamental questions in finance, pen systematic trading strategies, and use data to analyze market trends.

We are super excited about the existence of this organization and have put together a great team, curriculum, and group of professors for you and hope you will apply to be a part of QMI regardless of your year, class, and experience level if you are interested in the intersection between finance, computer science, and mathematics. Additionally, even if you choose not to apply and participate in the project based curriculum portion of the program, you can still attend our general lectures. That's a wrap! The end of semester boat party was a wonderful event filled with lots of laughs, sunshine, and yummy food. Thank you to everyone who came!

The boat party also marks the end of another year of USIT. Thank you to all the members for making this year the best it could be; we hope to see you all again next year. Have a wonderful summer!
