Join us March 9th as we host Dick Weber who will speak on the DOL Fiduciary.

"DOL Fiduciary” is one of the most controversial issues confronting financial professionals. With its origins going back to 1974’s ERISA and expanded into a final rule 10 months ago, fiduciary standards of care for advice involving retirement plan money - and for the first time involving individual accounts - may or may not actually take effect in 2017 as originally scheduled.

Intriguingly, many financial institutions have announced preparations to move forward with some form of implementation, even if The Rule is completely rescinded. Further, members of the Society of FSP commit to a comparable standard of care when first applying for membership.

Members of FSP ask: “What does this all mean for those of us who strive to put their client’s interest before our own?” - but who generally have not been required to prove it.

Society Past President Dick Weber has been focusing on these issues for many years, and will attempt to provide a context around DOL Fiduciary, share his own experiences as an Insurance Fiduciary, and engage in dialog with Austin members for this meeting he calls “When They’re Running You Out of Town, Get at the Head of the Line and Make it Look Like a Parade!"

He serves as the securities fraud program manager for the most visible securities cases prosecuted over the last decade. He is widely recognized as the chief strategist in coordinating these complex white collar investigations and for infiltrating corrupt participants in the hedge fund industry through the use of sophisticated techniques, undercover operations, and wire taps.
