Did you know the age of a property's roof drives the coverage type and premium on your insurance policy? If you have had your roof replaced, make sure to let your insurance company or agent know. Even if your roof was replaced due to a claim, the insurance company does not automatically update your policy.

Happy and proud to be celebrating 3 years in the independent insurance world at Brown & Brown. Thanks to all of you who support me in this business. Working with my friends and family certainly doesn't make it seem like work. It's really rewarding to enjoy what I do and to use my 26 years of insurance experience to assist others.

Why does auto insurance go up?

As an independent insurance agent, I have seen sizeable increases among all insurance companies this year unfortunately. Of all the elements an auto insurance policy covers, all costs continue to rise at a significant rate. Think about actual car parts, labor, medical expenses, lawsuits/legal fees, towing and rental cars. Cars these days are much more complicated to repair and take longer to do so. Aside from the actual part, think about vehicle sensors, cameras and recalibration requirements. Longer repair times also result in a longer need and expense for rental cars. Catalytic converters are being stolen at an alarming rate, something rarely heard of just a few years ago.

Some may say my vehicle is going down in value, so why doesn't my insurance go down? The vast majority of claims are for repairs, not replacements, so whether your car is new or 5 years old, repair costs are going to be fairly similar.
