🤔When should I get my pre-approval?
I’ve gotten a lotttt of DMs on this question and the answer is RIGHT AWAY! If you KNOW you are buying soon, GET PRE-APPROVED ASAP! A Pre-Qualification and Pre-Approval are 2 different things.
❌Getting pre-qualified is a quick screening, and more of a discussion to learn about your options and your financial ability to repay a loan.
✅A Pre-Approval verifies income documents, employment, assets, and credit to start the underwriting process before you even make an offer. This way, when you find your dream home, it is a streamline process to get you to the closing table smooth like butter! 🧈 A lot of sellers won’t even let you view their home without a pre-approval letter. How do they know you can even afford their house?
After checking your credit report, a good LO will be able to see what you can do to improve your score so you can get a better rate. This can take up to 30 days to reflect on your credit so getting pre-approved, at the very least, a month before is absolutely NECESSARY!
