There are many charities out there. This one really speaks to me of course. Everyone deserves to be able to see a doctor when needed and many people will avoid them because of costs. Then when something major happens, they incur massive medical debt. Which of course keeps those same people from going to the doctor when needed.

About 5 years ago, hospitals were required to list pricing on their website so people could look up medical procedures and the cash price vs insurance price. There were to be penalties for hospitals that did not comply. So now, only half of hospitals in our country are actually doing it. But why?

Are the penalties not being collected?
Are the penalties high enough?

If they would've enforced this law, we the people would've been able to make life changing medical decisions about our care.

Several times a month we get questions about whether these are real ads or not. The answer is; sort of.
These plans exist.
They are meant to assist very low income retirees
There are certain eligibility requirements that MOST people do NOT meet.

These ads are predatory, create confusion, and cause people to change their plans even when they didn't agree too.

Many of our clients reported that they are told they qualify and when the application is submitted, find out they don't. That process can take a month and now the client is left with the wrong plan for the rest of the year.
