As back-to-school season kicks into full gear, your to-do list is probably a mile long. Between school supply runs, registration forms and getting everyone back on a schedule, it’s easy to feel like you’re running on autopilot. And unfortunately, scammers count on exactly that.
Every fall, fraud spikes as families are busy, distracted and spending more than usual. As a parent, knowing what to watch for can make all the difference in protecting your family’s personal information and finances. Here are three of the most common back-to-school scams to keep on your radar:
✏️ No legitimate scholarship will ever ask your student to pay a fee to apply or claim it.
✏️ If a seller is asking for payment by gift card, wire transfer or cash app, that's a red flag worth taking seriously.
✏️ When in doubt, always go directly to your school’s official website rather than clicking links in unexpected emails.
Staying informed is one of the most powerful things you can do for your family this school year. Share this post with a parent who needs to see it!
